Stella Yu is a Hong Kong-based professional cellist and educator. A graduate of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, she earned her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees under the guidance of Professor Ray Wang and Dr. Letty Poon.
Stella has performed with a variety of professional ensembles, including the Hong Kong String Orchestra, In-heritage Philharmonic, Hong Kong Virtuosi, Cellistra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Opera Hong Kong, and Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra.
Her performing career also encompasses crossover and commercial appearances. Recent engagements include performing as an orchestral cellist for the Music & Laughs Concert – Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival 2025, Jason Chan feat. Kowloon Swing Social Club Live 2023, and Mimi Lo in Concert 2021. Earlier credits include performing as solo cellist for Justin Lo’s Chapter Free Concert 2017 and G.E.M.’s X.X.X. LIVE 2013, performing in the orchestra for Hans Zimmer Live On Tour 2019 in Hong Kong, recording Saint-Saëns’ “The Swan” for the film “A Pair Of”, as well as performances in CCTV’s New Year’s Concert 2020 and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Cross-Screen Music Video.
As an educator, Stella teaches private cello lessons and school cello classes. Her students have achieved success in various music competitions, and she has been invited to adjudicate for music contests in Hong Kong.
Stella has enriched her artistic development through masterclasses with artists including Philippe Müller, Gary Hoffman, Jens Peter Maintz, László Fenyö, Martin Löhr, Timothy Eddy, Li-wei Qin, and Csaba Onczay; as well as with the Miami String Quartet, Endellion Quartet, Orion String Quartet, Shanghai Quartet, and Debussy String Quartet. She has participated in the Festival MusicAlp 2017 in France and Kronberg Academy’s Cello Masterclasses 2014 in Germany.
Her academic achievements were recognized through scholarships including the SAR Philharmonic Scholarship, Parsons Music Foundation Scholarship, The Society of the Academy for Performing Arts Scholarship, and Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation Scholarship.
俞菁妍 – 大提琴家
俞菁妍 — 香港職業大提琴演奏家與教育家，其藝術生涯涵蓋古典交響樂演奏、流行音樂演出及大提琴教學。她畢業於香港演藝學院，先後獲得音樂碩士及音樂學士學位，師從王磊教授及潘穎芝博士。
她曾合作演出的職業樂團包括香港弦樂團、傳承愛樂、香港名家樂友社、Cellistra、 馬勒樂團、香港歌劇院及泛亞交響樂團等。
俞氏亦活躍於各類跨界、流行及商業演出。近期參與項目包括為《香港流行文化節 2025甚麼是喜劇音樂會》、《陳柏宇feat. 九龍搖擺俱樂部演唱會2023》和《羅敏莊 Live Alive演唱會2021》擔任大提琴手。過往的演出記錄包括: 擔任《側田Chapter Free音樂會2017》及《鄧紫棋X.X.X.LIVE世界巡回演唱會2013》的大提琴獨奏;參與《Hans Zimmer世界巡回音樂會2019》香港站演出; 為電影《一對》(由《十年》 導演黃飛鵬執導)錄制聖桑《天鵝》;並參演央視《2020新年音樂會》及央視音樂頻道《粵港澳大灣區11城市跨屏合奏》。
在教學領域，俞氏從事大提琴私人教學，並擔任學校大提琴班導師，其學生在多項音樂比賽中屢獲殊榮。她亦屢獲邀約，擔任多項知名音樂比賽的評委。
為精進琴藝，她曾參與多位國際頂尖音樂家的大師班，包括Philippe Müller、Gary Hoffman、Jens Peter Maintz、László Fenyö、Martin Löhr、Timothy Eddy、Li-wei Qin、Csaba Onczay等大提琴家，以及邁阿密弦樂四重奏、安德里昂四重奏、上海 四重奏和德彪⻄弦樂四重奏等團體。她亦曾參加法國MusicAlp 2017音樂節及德國 Kronberg Academy大提琴大師班。
在學期間，她憑借優異的學業與演奏表現，獲頒多項獎學金，包括香港愛樂團獎學金、柏斯音樂基金會獎學金、演藝學院友誼社獎學金和成龍慈善基金獎學金。
